Radha Ashtami – 31st August 2025
Radha Ashtami – 31st August 2025
Radha Ashtami, Janma Utsav and Bhakti Samarpan Pooja
Date (2025): August 31, Sunday
Hindi Calendar Tithi: Bhadrapada Shukla Ashtami (िारपद श ु क् ल अष्टमी )
Why It Is Done:
Radha Ashtami marks the appearance of Goddess Radha, the eternal consort of Shri Krishna and embodiment of prema bhakti (pure divine love).
Unlike Janmashtami, which celebrates Krishna’s birth with grandeur, Radha Ashtami is subtle, sacred, and serene, it invites the soul to surrender, not celebrate.
This day is especially potent for:
- Those seeking spiritual union or divine love
- Those suffering from heartbreak, abandonment, or emotional isolation
- Those wanting to rise above attachment, lust, and illusion (Maya)
Main Deity Worshipped:
Goddess Radharani, the Hladini Shakti of Krishna, symbol of unconditional devotion, feminine divinity, and inner stillness
Scriptural Reference:
As per the Brahma Vaivarta Purana and Padma Purana, Radha was born on the 8th day of Shukla Paksha in Bhadrapada month in the village of Barsana, emerging from a golden lotus.
It is said Krishna’s flute holds no rasa without Radha, for she is not His beloved, she is His devotion.
